The position is for a Data Center (DC) Mgr who will be the focal person and overall responsible to manage & maintain all aspects of 1 or smaller customer data centers. It includes interfacing with customers, interfacing with site facilities (on power/cooling/space), interfacing with IT delivery support teams, working raised floor issues, working DC operations & potential DR activities, change/problem mgmt of DC related activities, project tracking & reporting DC & IT services/capacity, and raised floor diagramming.



Special Skill Requirements

Candidates must have experience and good working knowledge of the overall workings of a data center. Have good communication skills since s/he will be interfacing with customer, facilities, IT support teams, etc. and need to gather and roll up information. Must be self motivated and able to adapt to the variety of DC work. Must have organization skills and able to perform project tracking (formal Project Mgmt not needed) and follow-up, must be able to do Change & Problem mgmt, some DR, and able to interact with facilities in general using power, cooling, space terms/issues.



Additional comments for consideration

This position will be part of a team of 4-5 peers who will have similar roles and all will need to be working together to interface & satisfy customer. This role requires on-site presence. Also, some weekend or off-shift work may be required as needed and some local travel, depending on size and number of smaller Data Centers being supported..

Job Responsibilities:
This position is for the Data Center Facilities Lead assisting in day-to-day operations and management (as required) of the Data Center and its computer and facility infrastructures. The Data Center Facilities Lead will interface with vendors, infrastructure and business teams as necessary in support of space planning for moves/adds/changes of hardware devices and associated cabling.

The candidate must have superior organizational skills, willing to work flexible hours, and assist with physical activities (lifting floor tiles, equipment racking etc.,) as project commitments dictate. This candidate will further be responsible for developing and maintaining the DC asset inventory. Creation of supporting metrics and reporting of key measures of success related to capacity threshold levels and limits to reduce risk of incident.

The candidate must possess excellent communication skills and work closely with technical teams and accounts in order to meet the customer needs. The candidate must be able to adapt very quickly and be able to effectively work on multiple items. Familiarity with server and network platforms is required. Documents configuration changes and key process information
Monitors, tunes and optimizes database and applications performance; works with the system administrator to ensure that the server is properly configured and running at optimal performance

Configures and manages database backup and recovery procedures and schedules
